Polystyrene

Learnt to use this medium on an excellent course run by John Blakeley at West Dean.
This is the medium if I want to produce life or larger than life size pieces. It seems similar to Stonecarving in that you must find the form in the block not build up the sculpture from nothing as in clay. To date the pieces have been painted with PVA and survive in the garden although they are beginning to yellow so maybe I need to find a coating with UV protection.
At a further West Dean course the Blob came into existence as an abstract to add to Poly the larger than life size head.
