Plaster & Jesmonite

The portrait head was moulded from a clay original using a waste mould on a course held by Simon Cooley at Abergavenny. Never have so few made so much mess with wet and dry plaster. Jesmonite the material for the relief being an acrylic resin dries much quicker but needs careful measurement and estimation of the quantity needed. The walking figure / dancer are made from plaster bandage built up on a chicken wire armature. Picasso, the Expressions exercise and the abstract were produced at West Dean with much help from John Blakeley. The main sculpture in 2015 was the Black Kneeling woman to which was added a white Eagle in 2016 / 17. Method of construction is shown in the photos.
